One connection I have between the text and the world outside is when the Candor families have their bricks engraved and placed near the flagpoles. When I was younger and my family bricked some of our backyard and my sisters and I got to have our names on a brick.
Also when Nia made the lean-to, the connection to the outside world was when I was younger my friends and I would always make these ‘houses’ with branches in the park.
When Oscar said he was a boy scout, the connection to that is that I am a scout.
When Oscar said it had been raining for days and Nia and him couldn’t meet up, but could not wait, so they planned to meet up in the shed. The connection to that is once it was raining for a few days without stopping and my family and I had had enough of being indoors, so we went outside and got soaked.
When Campbell (Oscar’s dad) sends Oscar to go grocery shopping every Saturday morning the connection with that and the outside world is that my dad and I would always go grocery shopping every Saturday morning.
